Medium: Video
Artist Statement:
My passion for music, improvisation, and the energy of sound frequency sparked my exploration into neuroscience and jazz improvisation. This dynamic interplay led me to uncover the fascinating connection between creativity, the mind, and the body. Through personal and archival videos, still photography, videography, recording cymatics frequencies and voice-over, I hope to inspire young minds to explore the vibrant world of jazz, its enduring artistry by highlighting its cognitive and emotional benefits, to celebrate jazz as a powerful and transformative medium.
Project Description:
This project explores the connection between jazz improvisation and neuroscience, focusing on its cognitive and emotional benefits by exploring the ways in which engaging with jazz—both as a listener and performer—enhances overall well-being through numerous positive benefits. Using interviews, cymatics & scientific imagery, still photography, videography, recording cymatics and personal voice-over to illustrate how these concepts intersect and enhance mental function and flow. My hope is that future research could lead to more music and frequency based neurological therapies
