Artist: Jaqueline Bravo
Medium: Video
Artist Statement: I have taken Animation and principles of internet design. One common thread or idea that is spread across my work is that I like to create environments. For example, the website I created was a space for me to express who I am and things I enjoy. For my animation class I created environments and characters that were a smaller representation of who I am as well. For example, I created a stop motion video about thoughts that go through my head. It was meant to be a visual representation of who I am in a playful way. With this video I am showing another problem I deal with through video, insomnia. It is something many people can relate to, and I want to be able to create something that many people can connect with.
Project Description: My project is titled “Restless." It's an interpretation of what insomnia is like for me. I wanted to create a video that many people can relate to and might have personally experienced. Through rotoscoping I am able to represent the feeling of you not being at your best when you have insomnia. The space around you looks just as disorienting as you might feel. There is also a blue figure that is meant to represent the viewer and how our phones play a part in keeping us awake.
