eVALU(E)ate by Evelyn Okon is a conceptual video that allows viewers to interpret the value of fine and urban art through various parameters. Through the paralleling footage of free art and private, Okon allows us to draw our own conclusions about what each kind of art means to us.

Sometimes, it seems like fine art and urban art are from two different worlds. Fine art for the public lies within prestigious spaces that we only view at high caliber venues like museums and renowned galleries. The textbook definition defines fine art as visual art that is considered to have been created primarily for aesthetic purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness. Urban art is an art medium that lies outside of closed doors, to be freely seen by the public. It contains beauty and meaningfulness. It is art that is created by anyone, art that resonates with the people, vulnerable to its surroundings, dependent on the changes within the neighborhood it calls home.

It is clear fine art and urban art are placed in different settings making them appear different, but when taken away from their initial context, are they the same?
